Mom's Page

Here, you'll find the 'real' Kathleen. The one I don't let anyone really see.   I'm opinionated, stubborn, idealistic, and very outspoken -- in written form only ;-)

One of the reasons that I love the net is that I can speak my mind and I don't have to see the eye's rolling, or hear the al gore 'huffs'. I can be true to my beliefs without watering them down for fear that I'll hurt anyone's feelings. Actually, I don't do this at home either, I don't have to. I find that too many of my acquaintances are so wishy-washy that they don't bring up controversial subjects in order to keep the peace. Either that or my real-life acquaintances are completely apathetic or ignorant. My true friends know that I'm a loud-mouthed conservative idealist but they love me anyway. :-)

The subjects, hobbies, and interests that I hold near and dear are as follows (not always in this order):

  • Catholicism
  • Church History
  • Homeschooling
  • Educational Issues
  • Pro-Life, including abortion and euthanasia
  • Current Events and Politics
  • Website development

I pride myself on being an avid reader. My favorite authors are Hilaire Belloc, C.S. Lewis (right now I'm reading Mere Christianity), Dr. Scott Hahn (just finished with The Lamb's Supper), and Karl Keating. On a secular note, I love John Grisham too. I'm a great promoter of classical education and find myself reading the masters along with Julianna. Excellent way to expand the mind!

Follow the links under homeschooling and you'll find many great titles for adults too!

Part of my days is spent on working on my mother's company's websites: The Ferralli Group, Terra Sancta Imports, and Catholic Family Education. Since I'm online quite often and due to the fact that we live 20 miles away from civilization, I subscribe to several email lists. Many of the women on the internet that I have met have become dear friends to me. Again, I think this is the beauty of the www - you are a faceless name, someone who no-one can judge by appearance. The exchanges with these Godly women are uplifting, intelligent, caring, and sometimes critical - but always insightful. We have argued about the most stupid things but have solved the world's greatest problems! I love this little world, it has been a saving grace for me at times.

"Without wisdom, knowledge is more stupid than ignorance." (author unknown)
