December Edition
Christmas Party!!!
The next meeting will be at Holy Cross on Wednesday, December 6th. We will
be meeting 1 hour earlier than normal. Fr. Carter from St. Georges will be celebrating
Mass for us in the Chapel at 6:00pm. We need everyone in the gym no later than **5:45** in
order to get the children out of the coats, settled down, and filed reverently into the
Chapel. (feed the kids before the meeting - this will be a long evening.)
After Mass, Fr. Carter will talk to the Children about St. Nicholas, then we will file
back into the gym for the rest of the nights festivities. The Christmas Store will be set
up once again with items for all ages and price
ranges. Children will be taken into the store in small groups; we will also have gift
wrapping available like last year. (gift prices will range from 10 cents to 15.00 with the
majority of items in the 1.00-5.00 range) **Each
family member should bring an opaque bag with their name on it! - our store only has clear
bags which would spoil the gift surprises. Everyone who goes through the Christmas Store
will have their name entered into a drawing for a special gift!
After the Christmas Store we will have snacks and sing Christmas carols. Be ready to SING!
To make this evening more festive, I would ask that every family bring 2 dozen Christmas
cookies for snack and a drink.
Please bring any left over Christmas wrap, tape, ribbons, etc to donate for gift wrapping.
Volunteer wrappers are very welcomed :-) !
Please extend this invitation to Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, etc.! This is
such a wonderful way to celebrate the Advent Season with your families! It is important
that every family who plans on attending RSVP! We need to know how many people to plan on
for this event! Contact Kathleen Peterson,
774-0061 before November 30th.

A Letter From Graham...
Dear Everyone,
I feel this is a moment among colleges both Christian and non Christian to recruit
homeschooling students. Most of the Christian colleges that have contacted me have
requested on the admission application that students who wish to attend their college sign
a statement that the student will not drink, do drugs, smoke, dance, or have intimate
relationships with members of the opposite sex, attend church and prayer services weekly -
some colleges even grade for church attendance, do community service projects and sign
faith statements. I have found that many non-Christian schools like homeschooling because
our focus in life has been our faith, family, country, and school. The admission
counselors I have talked with have waived admission application fees because they know
that the homeschooling students are more focused on schoolwork and their faith and not on
partying and finding a husband or wife. Homeschools are very positive role models. They
may come from families that require more financial aid due to their larger family sizes,
low income families and limited working hours at part-time jobs but I am finding that the
financial aid packages I have heard about have been great. I am finding that the colleges
are wheeling and dealing with homeschoolers. I know the nest few months people will be
getting information from all over. I know I have. I plan on attending a community college
for now.
I have found that by praying over the colleges
I was lead to the community college in P.A. The tuition is very low, professors great,
college-course work very extensive, and my financial aid package couldn't have been
better. I wish all juniors and seniors success as they enter this major decision of
selecting their college to study at.
Warm Regards,
Graham Rowley
