If you wish to cast your finished product in a self hardening material such as plaster or gypsum, urethane rubber is usually a good choice.  Depending on your casting material, the advantages to a rubber mold are that high relief detail and undercuts can be sculpted into the original piece, giving it the illusion of more depth over a conventional ceramic piece.  Since the rubber flexes and bends, it can pull out of deep crevices and details.

Our rubber molds usually have a mother mold around them, to hold the rubber to its original shape, which minimizes distortion.  Several types of mother molds can be created, such as resin, hydrocal or plaster.   We have made flexible molds for collectible lines, ornamental casting, bronze investments, candles, cold cast resins, and many other applications.  Contact us for a free consultation of your individual project needs.
