General
Directions: Begin with properly
cleaned and fired 06 bisque. Thin down White and apply over entire piece to get
into all detail. When dry, apply another coat of undiluted White. Allow to
dry. Apply Hyacinth Blue in small areas wiping back for highlights until entire
piece is covered. Dampen a soft cloth with Solvent to wipe back further
highlights. Spray with Porcelain Mist to set TL. Reminder: In this
technique, sometimes more than 1 coat of TL is necessary so between each coat,
the color must be sprayed in order not to lift the first layer.
Technique
1.
Apply Black TL to foundation stones, roof, chimney, flue and all of
siding. Wipe back highlights on everything except siding. Spray. Apply
Weathered Krackle to siding and allow to dry.
2.
With an old brush, stipple Eggshell over the siding. Do not over work an
area. Allow this to thoroughly dry before moving to the next step.
3.
Apply Coal Gray to the base rocks and siding. Wipe back highlights.
Spray. Use Rich Walnut for signs, dock, eaves, fishing net, buoy sticks and
rope. Spray. Apply Black Forest to the doors and small windows. Spray.
4.
Lightly drybrush the doors and small windows with Forest Green then tip
into Lt. Yellow Orange to highlight. Paint windows on doors with Eggshell then
highlight with White. Paint hinges and doorknobs with Flat Black.
5.
Drybrush the dock with Dark Umber. Highlight dock, eaves, foundation
stones and trim of signs with Mink then tip into Lt. Yellow Orange to further
highlight.
6.
For the rope and letter part of signs, drybrush with Orange Rust then tip
into Lt. Yellow Orange to highlight. With this same brush, drybrush the fishing
net then tip into Portrait to further highlight.
7.
Use Rich Blue to drybrush the backgrounds on all signs. For the large
sign, tip into White to highlight the waves. On large sign, drybrush the bottom
of the dinghy Brick Red. For the top half and the small signs, drybrush Mink
then highlight with Portrait. Paint the oars Dark Umber and the fleur-de-lis
with Flat Black.
8.
Heavily drybrush the roof Brick Red. Paint the remaining windows and
bottom half of buoys Brick Red. Highlight these areas with Lt. Yellow Orange.
With the same color, paint the top half of the buoys and detail with Flat Black.
9.
For the chimney and base rocks, randomly drybrush stones with Light Gray,
Brick Red, Forest Green and Mink. Very lightly drybrush base rocks with Forest
Green to give the illusion of moss. Lightly drybrush with Light Gray to
highlight. Highlight flue with Light Gray. Spray entire piece.
10.
Drybrush the fleur-de-lis, corner points of small signs and door hardware
with Copper. Tip into Shimmering Silver to highlight.
