General Directions:
Begin with properly cleaned and fired
06 bisque. Thin down White and apply over entire piece to get into all detail.
When dry, apply another coat of undiluted White. Allow to dry. Apply Hyacinth
Blue in small areas wiping back details until entire piece is covered. Dampen a
soft cloth with Solvent to wipe back further highlights. Spray with Porcelain
Mist to set TL. Reminder: In this technique, sometimes more than one
coat of translucent is necessary so between each coat, the color must be sprayed
to protect the first layer.
Truck
- Apply Golden twinkle to
entire body and bed of truck avoiding windows. Spray. Apply a second coat to
bed. Tap same brush into Black translucent and wipe out on paper, with this
dark mixture tap in some depth/ dirty areas in bed. Spray.
- Use Black translucent for
the under body, tires, grill and bumper; spray. Apply 2-3 coats of Tangelo to
body of truck. The color should not be bright…this is an old truck that has
put in some good time.
- Drybrush windows with
Light Gray then highlight with White. Drybrush ‘chrome’ with Shimmering
Silver. Detail lights with White, Golden Ochre and Christmas Red
Tractor
- Apply Black translucent
to wheels, engine and working areas of vehicle; lightly wipe back highlights,
spray. Use Black Forest for engine cover and seat, 2 coats may be needed.
Again this tractor is old and worn, nothing should be very bright. Spray.
- Drybrush engine and
working areas with Sculptured Bronze then randomly drybrush with Shimmering
Silver and Glorious Gold. Use these same colors for the grill.
- Lightly drybrush engine
cover and seat with Forest Green then tip into Golden Ochre to very lightly
highlight. Stipple Forest Green on rims of large wheels. Spray.
Hay Bales
- Apply Golden Twinkle then
wipe highlights; spray. Apply a second coat; spray.
- Lightly drybrush with
Golden Ochre then tip into Ivory Tusk to highlight. Tip into White to further
highlight.
