General Directions:  Begin with properly cleaned and fired 06 bisque.  Thin down White and apply over entire piece to get into all detail.  When dry, apply another coat of undiluted White.  Allow to dry.  Apply Hyacinth Blue in small areas wiping back for highlights until entire piece is covered.  Dampen a soft cloth with Solvent to wipe back further highlights for an overall even look.  Spray with Porcelain Mist to set translucent color.  Reminder:  In this technique, sometimes more than one coat of translucent is necessary.  Therefore, the color must be sprayed between each coat, to protect the first layer.

Technique

1.        Apply Black translucent to cobblestones and sidewalk.  Wipe back to highlight, then spray.  Randomly apply Light Umber, Light Gray, Wedgewood Blue and Brick Red.  Very lightly highlight with Light Gray.  Drybrush highlights on sidewalk with Light Gray then tip into White to further highlight.

2.        Use 2 coats of Emerald Twinkle for roof and over hang top and bottom.  For roof, drybrush highlights with Jade Green then tip into Copper to further highlight.  The look is of weathered and patina roofing and should look slightly dull in finish.

3.        Apply Black TL to sign details, top of front fascia and door.  This will also include edging around sign where it would be a “table.”  Drybrush door with Chocolate.  Add highlights with Light Umber then tip into Golden Ochre to further highlight.  With color still in brush, evenly drybrush window in door then highlight with Ivory Tusk.

4.        Evenly drybrush sign trims and top of fascia with Light Gray then tip into White to highlight.  For the leaf detail evenly drybrush with Forest Green then tip into Brightest Yellow to highlight.  If this becomes too bright tone down with Light Gray.

5.        Apply Bay Blue to front window frames and “felt” on sign.  Spray.  Drybrush highlights with True Blue then tip into White to highlight window frames; tip back into True Blue and then into Light Gray to lighten sign center.

6.        Use Maple for bricks.  Wipe highlights, then spray.  A second coat may be needed for even coverage.  Drybrush bricks with Light Umber then tip into Golden Ochre to highlight.  Further highlight with Ivory Tusk.  Randomly paint a few bricks with Brick Red and Chocolate.  Evenly drybrush trim bricks with Ivory Tusk then highlight White.

7.        Refer to photo on color placements of remaining details.  On front overhang, paint wide eave with Light Gray and thin line Flat Black.  At top of fascia and rear eaves paint eave closest to brick Flat Black and remaining eave with Copper.  Paint Copper on flashing above and below windows and door.  Add details with Flat Black and White.  Door hardware is Flat Black with Copper details.

8.        Details on sign are individual preference.  Colors listed are suggestions for cue sticks and billiards.  For cue sticks, paint bottom and tip with Flat Black then tip into White to brush mix dark gray to highlight.  Paint center of cue with Lt. Yellow Orange and bottom with a brush mix of Chocolate and Flat Black.  Highlight center with Ivory Tusk.  Evenly drybrush billiards with Ivory Tusk then highlight with White. There are solid and stripe balls for each of the following colors: yellow, blue, red, purple, orange, green and burgundy. Finally, the eight ball (that’s solid).

9.        Apply Hi-Gloss Sealer to billiards, cue sticks, Copper flashing, door hardware and Flat Black trims.
