General
Directions: Begin with properly
cleaned and fired 06 bisque. Thin down White and apply over entire piece into
all detail. When dry, apply another smooth coat of undiluted White. Allow to
dry. Apply Hyacinth Blue in small areas wiping back highlights until entire
piece is covered. Dampen a soft cloth with Solvent to wipe back further
highlights for an overall even look to antiquing. Spray with Porcelain Mist to
set TL.
Technique
1.
Apply Silver Jubilee to entire piece to neutralize some of the blue.
Wipe back highlights with solvent. Spray. Use a second coat for roof, window
frames and doors. Randomly drybrush a few cobblestones, chimneys and
mid-section above arches and below trim stone with Wedgewood Blue, Mink, Brick
Red and Light Gray.
2.
Use Black Forest for grass. Gently wipe back highlights and spray.
Highlight grass with Sunflower and Tangelo. Spray.
3.
Evenly apply Gold Walnut to tiny stones around lower windows, stones
around doors and above trim stone. Spray. Drybrush with Mink then tip into
Light Tan to highlight. Continue highlights by tipping into White. With a
clean brush, lightly and randomly drybrush with Light Umber. This will “pop”
the color on the stones.
4.
Drybrush the arch stones, trim stones and eaves with White. The first
coat should slightly cover most of the stones. Concentrate on bringing out the
details in these areas with the next two coats.
5.
Evenly drybrush the sign trim, roof and doors with Brick Red. Tip the
same brush into Light Umber to highlight then into Light Tan, followed with
White for further highlights. Evenly drybrush the center part of the sign with
Light Tan then with White. Detail as desired. Hint: create a stencil for
lettering with different fonts from computer.
6.
Paint the window bars and trim in doors, doorknobs, window frames and
roof caps with Flat Black. Very lightly drybrush one side of the window bars
with Light Gray. Spray. Lightly drybrush upper and lower details of windows
with Glorious Gold. If needed, fine tune detail with gold and detail brush.
Apply Hi-Gloss Sealer to all windows and doors.
