General Directions:
Begin with properly cleaned and fired
06 bisque. Thin down White and apply over entire piece to get into all detail.
When dry, apply another smooth coat of undiluted White. When dry, apply
Hyacinth Blue in small areas wiping back for highlights until entire piece is
covered. Dampen a soft cloth with Solvent to wipe back highlights for an
overall even look to antiquing. NOTE: On this particular piece it is
important to leave a bit more of the antique on the wall facing the water. Make
sure the blue is heavier in detail yet is wiped away from the higher detail.
Spray with Porcelain Mist to set TL.
Technique
1.
Apply Bay Blue to all horizontal siding, back door, repair sign, spokes
of railing, bottom part of boat and top piece on roof except corner areas.
Gently wipe back highlights and spray. Lightly, yet evenly, drybrush these
areas with Teal then tip into Dew Drop Blue to randomly add highlights.
2.
Apply Antique Ivory to eaves, inside detail of end window, top rim of
boat and mast, top and bottom of rail and all house trims. Spray. Evenly
drybrush with Buttermilk then tip into White to further highlight.
3.
For double doors, sign trim, front door, table, and inside of boat, apply
2 thin coats of Golden Twinkle. Gently wipe highlights then spray. Very
lightly highlight with Golden Ochre tipped into Buttermilk.
4.
Drybrush 2 coats of Ginny Tan to vertical plank siding spraying in
between coats and varying the color. Apply 1 good coat of Holiday Red to
lifesaver and desired details. If color looks pink, spray and add a second
coat. Evenly drybrush rope White.
5.
Apply 1 to 2 coats of Cocoa Twinkle to deck. Wipe back highlights and
spray. You are looking for a medium dark brown color with contrasts in one
color application. Spray.
6.
Use Black TL for horizontal boards of deck “touching” the water. Wipe
back a middle highlight. Spray. Also apply 2 coats to the roof wiping back end
highlights. Spray. Lightly drybrush highlights to roof with Medium Gray then
tip into White to further highlight.
7.
Drybrush the deck with Light Taupe in a manner that indicates travel
paths and sun bleached wood. Highlight mooring posts more since they are
protruding areas. Lightly drybrush rope with Light Umber and highlight with
Golden Ochre.
8.
Evenly drybrush sign with White and paint “repairs” with White. Paint
all doorknobs, horseshoe, bucket and propeller with Flat Black. Drybrush
propeller and horseshoe with Sculptured Bronze. Highlight these areas and all
others in black with Shimmering Silver.
