General Directions:
Begin with properly cleaned and fired 06
bisque. Thin down White and apply over entire piece to get into all detail.
When dry, apply another smooth coat of undiluted White. When dry, apply
Hyacinth Blue in small areas wiping back for highlights until entire piece is
covered. Dampen a soft cloth with Solvent to wipe back highlights for an
overall even look to antiquing. Spray with Porcelain Mist to set TL.
Note:
The curtains in the large windows are not in the mold. If they are
something you desire they must be cut out when the greenware is wet.
Technique
1.
Apply Black TL to the cobblestones, sidewalk and roof. Wipe back
highlights on cobblestones and sidewalk to a dark gray color with Solvent.
Spray. Randomly drybrush a few stones with Light Gray, Light Umber, Dark Gray
Blue and Brick Red. Highlight sidewalk with Light Gray then further highlight
with White.
2.
Lightly drybrush the accent slate on the roof with Dark Gray Blue and
Brick Red. Lightly highlight the roof with Light Gray.
3.
Use White Cloud to gray the mortar for the brick on the body of the
building and chimneys, on the middle of sign, foundation brick, columns and trim
surrounding large windows on gable ends and trim brick. For all areas except
mortar, drybrush with White to even out color.
4.
Drybrush 2 coats of Red Maple to brick on body of building and chimneys.
Lightly work some of this color into the mortar when applying the second coat.
Spray. Drybrush brick with Brick Red then tip into Country Apple to randomly
add accents. Drybrush flues with a brush mix of Light Gray and Flat Black; tip
into White to highlight further.
5.
Apply Sunflower to the windows not cut out to give the illusion of
light. Spray. Highlight with Ivory Tusk.
6.
Use 3 coats of Nubian Brown for door, dormer windows, trim above and
below windows, sill and keystones of large windows & bottom eave on gable ends
following around building. Lightly drybrush door, sills and keystones and eave
with Chocolate; tip into Light Umber to very lightly highlight.
7.
Apply 2 coats of Bay Blue to eaves, sign trim, curtains, detail
background in upper windows and accent brick in foundation and trim. Spray.
Lightly drybrush with Rich Blue then tip into White to highlight further.
8.
For remaining eave and accent bricks, use 3 coats of Golden Toffee.
Spray. Lightly drybrush eave with Light Umber then tip into Golden Ochre and
Ivory Tusk to lightly highlight. Lightly drybrush the accent brick with Brick
Red.
9.
Use Antique Ivory for window frames. Spray. Lightly highlight with
Ivory Tusk.
10.
Paint remaining eave, trim around
door, lettering, door handles and all areas that receive copper with Flat
Black. Drybrush roof caps with Copper Penny then add accents to door and large
windows. Add final accents to door and detail above windows at the top of the
gable ends with White. Touch up any areas as needed.
