General Directions:
Begin with properly cleaned and fired
06 bisque. Thin down White and apply over entire piece to get into all detail.
When dry, apply another smooth coat of undiluted White. Allow to dry. Apply
Hyacinth Blue in small areas wiping back for highlights until entire piece is
covered. Dampen a soft cloth with Solvent to wipe back further highlights for
an overall even look to antiquing. Spray with Porcelain Mist to set TL.
Technique
1.
Apply Silver Jubilee Twinkle to cobblestones, doors, window frames and
cornerstones. Wipe back highlights on cornerstones to a medium gray. If
needed, apply a second coat to the cobblestones, then randomly drybrush a few
of the stones with Wedgewood Blue, Brick Red and Light Gray.
2.
Apply Black Forest to the grass and gently wipe back highlights. Spray.
Highlight the grass with Sunflower and Tangelo. Spray.
3.
Apply Antique Ivory to stucco, top/bottom of pillars, dentil work, center
slats of porch and keystones/roof of dormer windows. Spray. Then apply a thin
coat of Tangelo to these same areas. Lightly wipe back highlights and spray.
When dry, lightly drybrush highlights with Ivory Tusk.
4.
Mix Golden and Holiday Red in your brush to make a brick color. Apply
this mix to front and rear steps and to cutwork. Gently wipe back highlights.
If a pink color appears spray and repeat with a touch more Golden in brush.
Spray. Lightly drybrush with Brick Red. With a clean brush, add highlights
with Ivory Tusk.
5.
Apply 2 coats of Bay Blue to shingles. Wipe highlights from round edges
up between coats and spray. Use one good coat on other roofs. Lightly drybrush
highlights with Eggshell.
6.
Evenly drybrush porch, center of pillars, roof/sides of dormer windows,
brackets and various edges of crown moldings with Eggshell. Refer to photo as
needed for color placement.
7.
Drybrush window frames and doors with Chocolate. Highlight door
“carvings” with Ivory Tusk then tip into Eggshell to further highlight.
Drybrush top of larger windows and stone trim in rear with Eggshell until even.
Paint the lower trim with Eggshell.
8.
Paint doorknobs, various trims and detail in brackets with Flat Black.
Use Brick Red to paint ring between ball and star detail on peak. Spray.
9.
Paint door trim, cutwork dots various trims and star/ ball at peak with
Glorious Gold.
10.
Note:
If some windows remain in building, apply Sunflower to panes and highlight with
Eggshell or be creative and paint in curtains, plants or the family cat!
