General Directions:
Begin with properly cleaned and fired 06 bisque. Thin down White and apply over
entire piece to get into all detail. When dry, apply another smooth coat of
undiluted White. Allow to dry. Apply Hyacinth Blue in small areas wiping back
for highlights until entire piece is covered. Dampen a soft cloth with Solvent
to wipe back further highlights. Spray with Porcelain Mist to set TL.
Reminder: In this technique, sometimes more than 1 coat of TL is necessary.
Therefore, spray between each coat of color in order to not lift the first
layer. Refer to photo for color placements in various sections.
Technique
1.
Apply Black TL to all of the stones, steps and
rooftops. Wipe back the shingles further than the cobblestones. Apply Black
Forest to the grass; wipe back highlights. Spray. Highlight grass with Sunflower
and Tangelo. Spray. Evenly drybrush shingles and stones on the outer edge of
steps with Light Gray.
2.
Randomly drybrush stones with Brick Red, Light Gray
and Mink. Lightly highlight with White; then add more highlights where there
would be foot traffic to the doors.
3.
Use 2 coats of Red Maple for the chimney, steps,
detail shingles and both doors. Spray. Drybrush steps with Medium Mocha then
tip into Lt Yellow Orange to highlight; further highlight by tipping into
Eggshell.
4.
For the chimney, detail shingles and doors,
drybrush with Brick Red. Tip into Lt Yellow Orange to lightly highlight chimney
and shingles.
5.
Apply a thin coat of Coal Gray TL to the body of
the house. Spray. When set, apply Olive Green to the same area. Spray.
Drybrush siding with Yellow Green then tip into Eggshell to further highlight.
6.
Drybrush detail on eaves with Brick Red. Refer to
photo as needed for color placements. Paint some of the smaller details around
the front door.
7.
For the corner trim, larger detail around front
door, flue and primary eaves, heavily drybrush with Eggshell. If you have not
cut out all windows, apply 2 coats of Sunflower to the background of the
windows. Spray. Using Eggshell, finish painting detail around front door and
trim out all windows.
8.
Paint doorknob plates with Flat Black. Spray.
Paint doorknobs and point of turret roof with Glorious Gold.
