The Police Station was a necessity in most small towns.
The Jail was located in the back rooms, as you can see from the bars on the back

General Directions: Begin with
properly cleaned and fired 06 bisque. Thin down White and apply over entire
piece to get into all detail. When dry, apply another coat of undiluted White.
Allow to dry. Apply Hyacinth Blue in small areas wiping back for highlights
until entire piece is covered. Dampen a soft cloth with Solvent to wipe back
further highlights. Spray with Porcelain Mist to set TL. Reminder: In
this technique, sometimes more than 1 coat of TL is necessary so between each
coat, the color must be sprayed in order not to lift the first layer.
Technique
1.
Apply Black TL to the cobblestones, sidewalk, eagle signs, lamp bases,
bars, trim around door, background/ corners of sign and roof. Wipe back
highlights with soft cloth dampened with Solvent on cobblestones, roof and
sidewalk. Spray.
2.
Lightly drybrush sidewalk and cobblestones with Medium Gray. Randomly
drybrush a few stones with Mink, Light Gray and Brick Red. Add highlights to
the sidewalk and cobblestones with Light Gray then tip into White to further
highlight sidewalk.
3.
Use White Cloud to cover the bricks over the body of the building even
down into the cracks. Spray. This will tone down the initial antiquing to give
the illusion of mortar. Drybrush the brick and chimney stacks 2 times with
Orange Rust. Randomly drybrush some of this same area with Brick Red. This
should have a two-tone look when done. Solidly paint a few stones with Brick
Red and Dark Umber.
4.
Apply Coal Gray to the corner stones, foundation stones and top trim
stone. Spray. Lightly highlight these areas with Portrait.
5.
Use 2 coats of Nubian Brown for the wood trim, trim over windows and
front door. Spray. Lightly highlight with Portrait. Apply Hyacinth Blue to
the sign trim and Black Forest to the eaves. Spray.
6.
Lightly highlight the lamp bases and trim above door with Medium Gray.
If windows above door are not cut out, basecoat with Light Gray then highlight
with White. Paint the globes with Lemon Meringue. Heavily drybrush globes and
window frames with Eggshell then highlight with White. Paint the lettering
White. Paint trim stones above and below windows Flat Black. Use Flat Black to
paint badges on globes and paint numbers with White. Spray.
7.
Drybrush sign corners, eagles and trim stones of windows Glorious Gold.
