The Cider Mill in Marianville is owned and operated by Bob Frapple.  This quaint Salt Box style house is common throughout the New England states.  The Frapple's lived in the home and had their small business in the basement and first floor.  The kids would pick the apples and Bob and his wife operated the press.  

 

This piece is designed as a New England style salt box.  The accessory mold includes the stone chimney and two apple barrels.

General Instructions: Base coat fired 04-06 bisque with 2 coats of White Acrylic Stain. Thin the first coat with 1/3 water. Using a soft brush, scrub over the entire piece getting into all cracks and crevices. Apply a second coat of White Acrylic Stain full strength. Spray with Porcelain Mist Spray and allow to dry. Apply a coat of Hyacinth Blue Translucent Stain to entire piece. Wipe back with a soft cloth allowing for detail. If you need to, you can wipe back further with solvent. When you reach the desired effect, spray and allow to dry.

SIDING: Apply Blue Smoke to all siding. Wipe back with a soft cloth to desired effect. Spray and allow to dry. Lightly dry brush all of the siding with White Acrylic Stain to soften the color.

ROOF: Apply Black Mineral Spirit Stain to the entire roof. Wipe back to desired effect and spray with Porcelain Mist. When dry, lightly paint some of the tiles with Warm Gray, Slate Grey, Blue Smoke and Ginger Oak in a random pattern. Spray and allow to dry.

STONE FOUNDATION & CHIMNEY: Apply a coat of Ginger Oak to all of the stones. Wipe back with a soft cloth. Spray with Porcelain Mist Spray and allow to dry. Randomly paint some of the stones with Blue Smoke, Slate Grey, Walnut, Maple and Toasted Pecan. Blot lightly and spray with Porcelain Mist. Allow to dry.

TRIM, WINDOWS, CORNER POSTS and BACK OF SIGNS: Heavily dry brush all of these with White Acrylic Stain.

SIGNS (Border and Letters), FRONT DOOR, SIDE DOOR and RAMP: Paint the border on the signs and the lettering with Old World Santa Red. Apply Jet Black to the nails. Dry brush both doors and the ramp with the Old World Santa Red.

GRASS: Apply Black Forest to all of the grass. Add some Sunflower and Tangelo to the Black Forest. Blend the colors with a soft cloth and wipe back to desired effect. Spray the grass areas and allow to dry.

STEPS: Heavily dry brush the steps with Medium Gray. Lightly dry brush with White to make it look like the steps are worn.

BARRELS: Apply Walnut to the wood on the barrels and Holiday Red to the apples in the barrel. Wipe back with a soft cloth. Spray and allow to dry. Paint the bands with Copper Penny Stain.

Spray the entire piece one final time and allow to dry.


Note: If you find a color that is discontinued, ask your Mayco distributor for a suitable replacement.
