The
settler's cabin was one of the first homes built in Marianville. In fact,
Marianville didn't exist when the house was erected in 1812. Harvey
Stenfields first arrived in the area in 1811 and as he cleared fields for
farming, he used the wood from the cleared trees to build this homestead. This two-story log home was an ambitious
undertaking since he worked alone to build it.

General Instructions: Base
coat fired 04-06 bisque with 2 coats of White Acrylic Stain. Thin the first coat
with 1/3 water. Second coat is full strength. Using a soft brush, scrub over the
entire piece getting into all cracks and crevices. Allow piece to dry and spray
with Porcelain Mist Spray. After each application of a translucent stain (TL)
spray with Porcelain Mist Spray, and allow to dry. This will set the color and
avoid smudging. Using a soft bristle brush, apply Hyacinth Blue Translucent
Stain to the entire piece, wipe back with Solvent, be sure to allow for shading
and detail. Spray and allow to dry.
LOGS: Using a soft
bristle brush, apply two coats of Rich Walnut Translucent Stain, wipe back with
solvent to desired effect, spray and allow to dry. Using a stiff brush, dry
brush the logs (in this order) with Medium Taupe Acrylic Stain, Light Taupe,
Medium Portrait, Portrait and Eggshell.
GRASS: Apply Black
Forest Translucent Stain to all of the grass, allow to dry until tacky, wipe
back with a soft cloth to desired effect. Add Tangelo Translucent Stain and
Sunflower Translucent Stain randomly and wipe back to blend the colors to the
desired effect, spray and allow to dry.
ROOF AND PORCH ROOF:
Using a soft bristle brush, apply Black Brown Translucent Stain to the entire
roof, allow to dry until tacky, wipe back with a soft cloth to desired effect,
spray and allow to dry. Dry brush the entire roof in this order Flat Black
Acrylic Stain, Slate Gray, Medium Gray, Light Gray and Eggshell.
STONES: Apply
Ginger Oak Translucent Stain to all the stone areas (foundation and chimney),
allow to dry until tacky, then gently wipe back to desired effect, spray and
allow to dry. Then randomly paint the stones very lightly with, Rich Walnut,
Blue Smoke, Golden Toffee, Gold Sable, Warm Gray, Red Maple and Gold Doe Skin.
DO NOT wipe back, spray and allow to dry.
DOOR: Lightly
paint the door with Avocado Translucent Stain. Do not wipe back. Spray and allow
to dry.
HINGES: Paint the
hinges and hardware Flat Black Acrylic.
EAVES, WINDOWS, PORCH FLOOR AND COLUMNS:
Using a soft bristle brush, paint the eaves, windows, porch floor and columns
with Slate Grey Mineral Spirit Stain. Wipe back to desired effect, spray and
allow to dry.
Give the entire piece one final spray and allow to dry.
Note: If you find a color that is discontinued, ask your
Mayco distributor for a suitable replacement.
