A message from the editor of The WARRIOR Newsletter:
The Archives Committee was established to preserve objects of significant sentimental value to the alumni who attended East High School over the last 70 years. For example, we all remember the tiled drinking fountains, the corner stones, the outside urns and pedestals, the iron stair railings, the school trophies, paintings, and other artifacts, such as old football or band uniforms. It would be a shame if anything of real sentimental value is destroyed in the demolition which is tentatively scheduled for May 1, 1999.
It will take money to preserve some of these artifacts. For example, it will take $20,000 to dismantle the colorful tiled drinking fountains. It will cost extra to have the twelve tiled fountain splashboards installed in the new school facility. This may be our last opportunity to provide a legacy to future students expressing that we were thoughtful enough to bridge the old with the new.
The members of the East High Alumni Association cordially welcome you to make tax deductible donations to preserve some of the precious artifacts.
If you would like to make a donation, you can do so by mailing the contribution.
